Rooted
You created our garden.
Rooted in survival, you planted support
Gathering the supply of wisdom through our ancestors with grace, logic, and patience
You continued to change the soil
Adapting through each generation
You prepared our foundations with spiritual and physical protection
Fighting off the invaders who try to steal the ripe fruits of your labor
Handpicking the food that grew
You fed our soul, willfully placing our needs ahead of your own
How do we thank you for the care you have taken?
We shall heed your lessons and plant with purpose
We shall plant in this garden, the roots now thriving no longer surviving
With the foundation laid on our flower beds
We shall bloom with daily care under God’s sun rays
No longer will we water our garden with the tears of our ancestor’s wisdom of pain
Our streams come from tears of joy from living with resolve that today, yesterday, and tomorrow, will always and forever be joined in the careful caress of care
